Description

Brutal, macho, powerful; all described the modern look of the V8 Vantage Zagato when it was introduced. Each a fitting description, as the V8 Vantage Zagato (like the one offered here) came standard with Aston Martin’s 432 horsepower V580X Vantage engine, making it one of the fastest cars in the world.

Chassis 20043 features the classic Zagato ‘double bubble’ roof, over the shortened chassis, and a striking hand-formed aluminium body designed to reduce weight. Menacing in its appearance, the squared off grille and bonnet power bulge can only hint at the massive torque waiting to be released by the five-speed manual transmission. Recorded test speeds nearing 300 km/h put it in competition with the Ferrari 288 GTO, but the luxurious leather seats and ample luggage space meant that it was far more comfortable than its contemporaries.

One of only 15 left-hand drive examples built, this car was originally delivered new to the Gulf for a Middle Eastern sheikh in Javelin Grey over grey leather. In the mid-1990s, chassis 20043 was involved in a serious accident during the mid-1990s, after which it was subsequently returned to Aston Martin Lagonda with instructions to rebuild the vehicle with no expense spared. With only the gearbox and engine retained, Aston Martin and Zagato constructed a new, more modern vehicle incorporating features from the later Volante Zagatos. Presented today in the classic colors of Litchfield Black over Parchment leather, this coupé has been started routinely, with regular maintenance since its acquisition by the consignor in 1997.

Among the rarest of the rare, this V8 Vantage offers the chance to own a piece of that legendary partnership between Aston Martin and Zagato.
